Australian opener Jake Weatherald took a dig at himself after a 4-wicket defeat in the Boxing Day Test vs England in the Ashes 2025-26. He joked about his poor form in the ongoing series with a hilarious social media caption.
Weatherald got his maiden Test call-up for the Ashes 2025 after his undeniable performance and consistency in the Sheffield Shield.
However, despite Australia leading 3-1, Jake Weatherald has yet to utilise his prized opportunity.

In four Tests so far, Jake Weatherald has scored just 146 runs at a 20.85 average, a 68.86 strike rate and a single fifty. Moreover, in the Boxing Day Test, the opener failed on 10 and 5 as Australia collapsed in both innings.
After the game, Jake Weatherald acknowledged his poor form, but with a hilarious twist. At MCG, the left-hander met some specially abled young fans and signed autographs for them.
He even engaged with the crowd and shared pictures of those moments on social media. However, Weatherald trolled himself in the caption, which said, ‘POV: signed more autographs than runs in this match.’
He later added, ‘Not every day goes to script - still working hard. SCG next.’

Meanwhile, Jake Weatherald instantly went viral for his humorous post, with fans praising him for acknowledging his shortcomings and also working on them to improve ahead of the fifth Test at Sydney.
Weatherald gets much-needed support from Travis Head
Against the odds, Jake Weatherald received comforting and encouraging words from his teammate Travis Head.
The latter backed his opening partner to succeed at the Test level, saying the left-hander has shown enough glimpses across a tough Ashes series to prove he belongs in international cricket.
While the big scores have not come from Weatherald, Head believes the conditions and quality of bowling have made life difficult for any batter, especially early in a career.
Head singled out Weatherald's vital 72 in Brisbane as a defining moment, calling it a crucial innings in the context of the series. He also felt his partner had generally looked comfortable at the crease, even if unusual dismissals have halted progress.
