In a significant development, Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta and team captain Shreyas Iyer were spotted together in a cheerful public appearance. The duo was seen posing for photographers in a recent viral video, creating buzz among fans ahead of the upcoming season.
In the clip, Preity Zinta was seen with Shreyas, and she playfully said, "I’ve got him for you." The photographers, excited to see the captain after a long injury layoff, warmly greeted him with "Kya baat hai, Shreyas bhai!"
Preity looked elegant in a chic white top and blue denim, while Shreyas Iyer kept it classy in a simple shirt and black trousers. Shreya Iyer's casual yet stylish appearance delighted fans, especially as it marked Shreyas’s first public outing since his major injury.
Despite the injury setback, the PBKS have retained Shreyas Iyer ahead of the IPL 2026 season. Iyer was one of the standout performers last year, leading PBKS to the IPL final and finishing as the team’s highest run-scorer.
Shreyas Iyer’s injury and long road to recovery
It is vital to mention that Shreyas Iyer has been out of action ever since his on-field accident during the third ODI in Australia. The PBKS captain fractured his ribs while taking a stunning catch, but the situation turned worse when he was rushed to the hospital. Scans revealed a ruptured spleen and severe internal bleeding.
He underwent a minor procedure and spent time in the ICU as the BCCI confirmed he had suffered a abdominal injury with spleen laceration.
Recent medical reports, including an ultrasonography examined showed improvement in Iyer’s condition. However, he has been advised to avoid any activity that puts stress on his abdominal region.
The star player will undergo another USG test in two months, after which the BCCI will decide when he can begin rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
As of now, Shreyas is unlikely to return to cricket before IPL 2026.
