Just three Tests into the series, Australia thrashed England under 11 days to retain the Ashes 2025-26 for the 4th consecutive time. This came after a long build-up to the tour by the English media, fans and even former cricketers, touting it to be England's best chance to win down under.
Former fast bowler Stuart Broad also remarked the current Australian side to be the worst in the last 15 years, ridiculing their chances to win the series.
However, things went completely south for the Bazball after they got outplayed for the majority of the opening three matches. They prolonged their 15 year wait to win a series in Australia. However, Travis Head did not miss the opportunity to make fun of the ex-England bowler for his statement ahead of the series and indirectly called him out.
Travis Head brutally trolls Stuart Broad
After winning the Ashes 2025-26, Travis Head took to his Instagram story, posting about the Australian celebrations upon clinching the series. In one of his stories, he posted an image with captain Pat Cummins, as they enjoying a drink and wrote, "Is it 2010 yet?🤣🤣🤣" as a jibe at the pacer.
Ahead of the series, Stuart Broad had made a bold and blunt statement about the hosts being a vulnerable side and that England stood a real chance at clinching their first away Ashes since their 3-1 win in 2010/11.
"It's probably the worst Australian team since 2010 when England last won, and it's the best English team since 2010. It's actually not an opinion, it's fact. So those things match up to the fact it's going to be a brilliant Ashes series," he said on the BBC's For The Love of Cricket podcast with fellow Englishman Jos Buttler.
As things stand, three Tests down the line, the remarked 'best England team since 2010' faces an identity crisis under Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes. They stare at a potential clean-sweep with the Boxing Day Test at the MCG and the New Year's Test at the SCG to go.
Contrastingly, Travis Head is the leading run-scorer of the series, with 379 runs in 6 innings, averaging 63.14, having scored two centuries.
