On Sunday, Pakistan’s Under-19 team created history by defeating India in the final of the U19 Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai. This memorable win came after 13 years, as Pakistan lifted the Under 19 Asia Cup trophy for only the second time.
Unlike 2012, when Pakistan shared the title with India, this time they won it outright and became sole champions for the first time.
PCB chairman announces cash reward for U19 players
Following this historic win, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced a generous cash reward for the young champions.
According to Geo Super reports, each of the 15 players in the squad will receive PKR 5 million (around 15 lakh Indian rupees). Naqvi personally praised the players, appreciated their hard work, and encouraged them to continue performing at the highest level.
After returning home, the Pakistan U19 team received a warm welcome at Islamabad airport, along with a victory parade, celebrating their remarkable achievement.
Talking about the match, Pakistan put up a huge total of 347 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs, after India opted to bowl first. The star of the match was opener Sameer Minhas, who played a brilliant innings of 172 runs from just 113 balls.
Minhas reached his century in only 71 balls and went on to record the highest individual score ever in a U19 Asia Cup final. His performance gave Pakistan a strong advantage right from the start.
Chasing a massive target of 348 runs, India struggled from the beginning. Pakistan’s bowlers dominated early, taking five wickets within the first 10 overs. India’s batting lineup collapsed quickly and the team was bowled out for just 156 runs in 26.2 overs.
This resulted in a convincing 191-run victory for Pakistan, which is the second-biggest win by runs in a U19 Asia Cup final.
Notably, Ali Raza was outstanding with the ball, picking up four wickets for 42 runs. He was well supported by Abdul Subhan, Mohammad Sayyam, and Huzaifa Ahsan, who took two wickets each. Although India’s Deepesh Devendran scored a quick 36 runs late in the innings, it was not enough to change the outcome.
