How Did Shaheen Shah Afridi Meet His Wife Ansha? Pakistan Pacer Reveals

One of the most eligible bachelors in international cricket, Pakistan's pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi married Ansha Afridi, daughter of former captain Shahid Afridi in February 2023. Since, lady luck has shone on Shaheen, who won the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 leading Lahore Qalandars and made a roaring return to international cricket in Sri Lanka last month.

Currently, Afridi is enjoying his time with Welsh Fire in the ongoing The Hundred 2023 Men, where the 23-year-old is the leading wicket-getter (5).

Not much is known about Shaheen's personal life, but recently in an interview with Suno News, the left-arm pacer revealed details about how he met his wife Ansha. The Qalandars captain revealed how both families were already quite close even before the marriage, which only strengthened their bond more.

Here's what Shaheen revealed

“It was my marriage so obviously, it was me who thought about marrying her. Lala and my brother have been friends for a very long time, and our elders know each other too. So, my mother went ahead with the rishta (proposal) and the families agreed.” 

Upon how the relationship started Shaheen explained that they only met at their Nikkah, and just saw each other at family gatherings. 

"There wasn’t a proper first meet-up as such. We used to go to each other’s houses. Whenever they’d come to our house so I’d see her around and then we met at our Nikkah. The best quality about her is how much she loves her parents and her sisters; which is very rare nowadays. Mobile phones have created a distance, a wall between families and we rarely see kids talking to their parents.”

The wedding ceremony took place in Karachi on February 4, and was star-studded affair with several former and current Pakistan players attending the occasion.

With high-profile events like Asia Cup 2023, and ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 around the corner, Shaheen will be crucial for Pakistan's success.
