Arshdeep Singh makes fun of himself [Source: Snapchat]
Arshdeep Singh, despite creating an unwanted record in the second T20I against South Africa, hasn’t lost his wit. In his recent Snapchat stories, Arshdeep trolled himself for conceding seven wides.
In the second T20I held at his home ground in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, Arshdeep was at his worst. He came on to bowl the 11th over of the first inning and took forever to finish it.
Self-trolling video of Arshdeep Singh goes viral
Arshdeep Singh ended up conceding 7 wides in that over and ended it as a 13-ball over. His loose lines left even head coach Gautam Gambhir fuming as he was seen shouting from the dugout.
While India lost the game by 51 runs, Arshdeep is taking the setback on his chin. He has accepted his mistake and is now trolling himself.
In his latest Snapchat story, Arshdeep told teammate Jitesh Sharma to open his arm and make a wide sign. As soon as an unaware Jitesh made the gesture, the left-arm pacer smirked, almost like laughing at his own mistakes.
That being said, Arshdeep had a rare off day on the field in Mullanpur as he conceded 54 runs in 4 overs without a single wicket. South Africa eventually went on to post 213 runs on the board.
But India collapsed to 162 in the chase, leading to a humiliating defeat. The 5-game series now stands 1-1.
Will Arshdeep get dropped in the third T20I?
Meanwhile, the third and crucial T20I of the series will be held on Sunday, December 14, at the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala. Arshdeep Singh is facing the threat of getting dropped after a disastrous spell in Mullanpur.
On the bench, Gautam Gambhir has the option of Harshit Rana. He is someone the coach rates highly for his high pace and promising potential.
However, backing Arshdeep makes sense at this point, as he is still the highest wicket-taker for India in the T20I with 107 wickets. His left-arm angle balances the bowling lineup.
So, it would be ideal for India to go with the same playing XI in the third game against South Africa.
