In a significant development, England have won the toss and elected to bowl first in the fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series against India. At toss, England captain Ben Stokes stated that his side would field first in order to capitalise on the damp surface and overcast conditions.

Kamboj To Play His 1st Test As India Set To Bat At Old Trafford

Meanwhile, Indian captain Shubman Gill confirmed three changes to the visitors' playing XI, with Anshul Kamboj, B Sai Sudharsan and Shardul Thakur replacing Akash Deep, Karun Nair and Nitish Reddy, respectively. Thus, Anshul Kamboj makes his debut for India in Tests, claiming Test cap number 318 for the visiting side.

Anshul Kamboj, who plays for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, is regarded as one of the most promising seam bowlers in the Indian domestic circuit. He has played 24 First-Class matches, scalping 79 wickets at an average of 22.88 and a strike rate of 44.2.

Besides generating sideways movement, Kamboj's ability to hit the bat hard makes him a tricky customer with the red cherry. Interestingly, he can also score handy runs lower down the order, as evidenced by his batting stats in First-Class cricket (486 runs, including a fifty at a strike rate of 73.08).

Akash Deep misses out due to injury, while Karun Nair's poor returns force India to bring Sudharsan back into the mix.

On the other hand, England have made a solitary change to their playing XI from the previous match, replacing Shoaib Bashir with Liam Dawson. Bashir has been ruled out of the Test due to a finger injury he sustained in the previous match.
