Cricket Australia extended its warm wishes to all the fans celebrating the festival of Holi with a unique gesture. On Friday, March 14, Cricket Australia organized a 2023 World Cup trophy tour across the Holi events in Melbourne, allowing fans to celebrate the occasion by taking selfies and pictures with the trophy.
The Australian board also gave away BBL and WBBL merchandises like player’s hats to add to the vibrant occasion. Cricket Australia’s latest initiative beautifully exemplifies its commitment to inclusivity and diversity, embracing multicultural celebrations and bringing fans closer to the sport.
Cricket Australia wishes fans Holi with World Cup tour
On March 14, Cricket Australia organized a trophy tour of the 2023 ICC World Cup in Melbourne across major Holi-celebrating events. Scores of fans took this opportunity to take selfies and click photographs with the iconic silverware.
The Australian team, under the leadership of legendary fast bowler Pat Cummins, won the 2023 ICC World Cup defeating tournament hosts India in a lop-sided final. Winning the toss and bowling first, Australian bowlers restricted India to just 240 in 50 overs.
Mitchell Starc picked up three wickets in the innings, which included the prized scalps of KL Rahul and Shubman Gill. Josh Hazlewood and captain Cummins also chipped in with two wickets each during their 10-over spells.
During the run-chase, Australian opener Travis Head overcame early jitters to punch out a match-defining 137 from just 120 balls with 15 boundaries and four sixes. Marnus Labuschagne crafted 58 unbeaten runs as Australia sealed its sixth World Cup title with seven overs to spare.
