During the ongoing IPL 2025, the 58th league match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the picturesque HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala was abandoned midway after air raid sirens and escalating military tensions led to the evacuation of players, staff, and thousands of fans.

What Happened At The Dharamshala Stadium?

The incident occurred during the 11th over of the match, with Punjab Kings cruising at 122 for 1. Opener Priyansh Arya was in stunning form, scoring 70 off just 34 balls, while Prabhsimran Singh had added a quickfire 50 off 28. The stadium lights abruptly went off, leading to confusion that quickly spiralled into panic.

Minutes later, floodlight failure turned out to be only the beginning. A security alert linked to drone strikes launched by Pakistan in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and parts of Rajasthan prompted an emergency evacuation of the capacity stadium.

The players, support staff, broadcasters, and spectators were all swiftly ushered out under tight security.

 IPL Cheerleader’s Shocking Video Viral

Adding to the shock, a video went viral on social media showing an IPL cheerleader recalling the chaos and fear inside the stadium.

“The whole stadium was evacuated in the middle of the game. It was very scary. Everyone was screaming that the bombs are coming. It is still very, very scary. We want to really go out of Dharamshala. I hope the IPL people are gonna look after us. It was very, very scary. I do not know why I’m not crying, I think I’m just in shock," she said in the video as the stadium went dark.

Why Was PBKS vs DC Match Called- Off?

It is important to note that the cancellation of the match has cast a shadow over the remainder of IPL 2025, with serious concerns over the safety of international players and staff. Reports indicate that several foreign cricketers are pushing to leave India immediately, even as the tournament hangs in the balance.

In a late-night press briefing, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla confirmed that the match was called off due to 'serious security concerns' arising from ongoing cross-border conflict.

This turmoil comes just a day after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a military retaliation targeting terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
