Amid rising India-Pakistan hostilities, former cricketer Ambati Rayudu joined several Indian athletes in addressing the conflict, which intensified after Pakistan launched drone, missile, and artillery attacks on civilian and military targets.

The situation led to the abrupt cancellation of an IPL 2025 match in Dharamsala, with spectators and players evacuated safely. Indian forces intercepted multiple drones and missiles, including strikes near Jammu Airport and border regions.

Rayudu Quotes Gandhi; Defends His Call

Ambati Rayudu, former CSK and India player urged peace on social media, quoting Mahatma Gandhi, “An eye for an eye makes the world blind.” His posts drew mixed reactions, with critics accusing him of undermining national resolve. Clarifying his stance, he elaborated on patriotism and peace co-existing side-by-side.

“This isn’t a call for weakness, but a reminder of wisdom… Patriotism and peace can walk hand in hand.”

He earlier shared a prayer for those affected. “Prayers for peace and safety in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab… Hoping for strength, security, and swift resolution. Jai Hind!”

After multiple reports of the cease fire violations in the Western front, Rayudu took up to social media again to pray for the soldiers.

The India-Pakistan Debacle

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s strikes marked a significant escalation, targeting Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir. India’s S-400 systems reportedly intercepted eight missiles and three fighter jets. A blackout was imposed in Punjab’s Pathankot, Amritsar, and Chandigarh as tensions soared.

Former cricketer Virender Sehwag condemned Pakistan’s actions, stating, “War has been chosen by Pakistan… Our forces will reply in a manner Pakistan will never forget.” Experts noted India’s earlier strikes avoided civilian areas, focusing on precision targets. The conflict continues to dominate national discourse, while reports are also emerging of BCCI's stance on putting a halt to IPL.
