Anil Kapoor Recalls Meeting Virat Kohli
Back in 2014, when Anushka Sharma was filming for the movie, Kohli, then her boyfriend, was there too, not as a cricketer, but as a supportive partner. Kapoor recalled that Kohli’s presence on the cruise wasn’t related to cricket but love, as he quietly accompanied Anushka.
Kapoor fondly remembered the meeting, saying, "We met eleven years ago on a cruise when Anushka was shooting Dil Dhadakna Do. I still remember how warm, humble, and down-to-earth you were it left a lasting impression on me. Since then, I've been admiring you from afar- your discipline, passion, and the sheer joy and pride you've given us through your incredible achievements on the field."
Although they haven’t met again since that cruise, Kapoor expressed how he continued to cheer for Kohli from a distance.
He added, "Though we haven't met again since, I've always been cheering for you. Congratulations on everything you've accomplished. You may have retired from Test cricket, but you'll never retire from the hearts of 1.4 billion Indians- and millions more around the world. Thank you, Virat."
Virat and Anushka’s love story began in 2014, and after a few years of dating, they got married in a private ceremony in Tuscany, Italy, in 2017. The couple has two children now, daughter Vamika, born in 2021, and son Akaay, born last year. Anushka, who has taken a break from acting, was last seen as a lead in the 2018 film Zero.
She has also shot for Chakda ‘Xpress, a biopic on cricketer Jhulan Goswami, which is yet to be released on Netflix India.
