Cricket has given fans unforgettable partnerships and on-field friendships that live on in memory. However, not all bonds are heartwarming, as some have raised eyebrows, such as the one between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.

Even though the duo won the World Cup together in 2011, their bond has always come under scrutiny. As Gautam Gambhir is celebrating his birthday today, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru wished the Indian head coach with a little bit of VK-GG flavour.

RCB celebrates Gambhir’s birthday in style

From winning the iconic 2011 ODI World Cup together to some on-field heated moments, the bond between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir has gone through thick and thin. Sometimes, the Indian head coach has taken a sharp jab at the former Indian skipper, and sometimes Kohli has been engaged in some ugly fights with him in the IPL. To fans, the true nature of their bond remains one of cricket’s biggest mysteries.

However, the Delhi boys reunited on the field when Gambhir became Team India’s head coach. On October 14, Gambhir is celebrating his birthday, and wishes are pouring in for the Indian head coach. Amid the flood of wishes, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s special birthday wish has caught everyone’s attention.

Sharing a picture with Virat Kohli, the IPL franchise penned down a heartfelt note. On their social media handle, they wrote, “A true fighter and a mastermind! Wishing a very happy birthday to T20 & ODI World Cup champion, and current Head Coach of India, Gautam Gambhir!” The post has grabbed the attention.

The duo is set to reunite in Australia

After bowing out of Tests and T20Is, Virat Kohli is gearing up for a full-fledged return in ODIs. Donning the iconic blue jersey back in March 2025 during the Champions Trophy final, Virat Kohli is set to come back in the 50-over format in the upcoming ODI series against Australia.

Just before Kohli was named in the ODI squad, there was a lot of speculation regarding King’s future, and Gambhir was directly targeted over the matter. As the former Indian skipper is set for a fierce comeback, the Gambhir-Kohli duo will reunite after a long time. As the first ODI against the Aussies is set to be played on October 19, the entire world is waiting to see some ‘Kohli Mania’.
