Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has reached New Delhi ahead of Team India’s upcoming tour of Australia. The Indian team led by Shubman Gill will soon leave for the series, which includes three One Day Internationals (ODIs), followed by a five-match T20I series.

Notably, Kohli arrived in the capital on Tuesday morning to join the team before their departure for the white-ball matches Down Under. A video shared by Sportsyaari showed Kohli dressed in a dark blue shirt, beige pants, and spectacles, looking stylish as always. He was seen carrying his travel bag and appeared calm and composed before heading off

According to PTI reports, team India will travel to Australia in two separate groups on October 15 due to ticket and flight arrangements. One batch of players will leave in the morning, while the second group is expected to fly out later in the evening, depending on business-class seat availability for the long flight.

Alongside Kohli, senior players like Rohit Sharma and newly appointed vice-captain Shreyas Iyer will also join the team in Delhi before they head out.

“Virat and Rohit will touch down in the capital either on the day of departure or a day prior,” a BCCI source told PTI.

Inside sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have hinted that this could be a make-or-break series for Kohli in ODIs. Selectors reportedly believe that future selections will be based purely on current form rather than past records.

Even though Kohli is considered one of India’s greatest-ever ODI batsmen, age may soon become a factor, he will be close to 40 years old by the 2027 World Cup. With cricket becoming faster and more demanding, the competition for spots in the team is getting tougher.

In addition, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have already retired from T20Is and Test cricket, meaning ODIs are now their only format. With Shubman Gill being appointed as the new captain, it is clear that the team is moving toward a younger generation of players. Moreover, chief selector Ajit Agarkar has hinted that from now on, all selections will depend on recent performances, not past achievements.

The first ODI match of the tour is scheduled to take place at Optus Stadium in Perth on October 19 (Sunday).
