In the latest development, India spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been released from the T20I squad as the team management wants him to play the second four-day match against South Africa A at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). The match begins on November 6 as the management wants Kuldeep to get ready for the Test series against the Proteas side.

Kuldeep Yadav is an important weapon for India’s red-ball side, and the team wants him to be match-fit for the all-important home series. The spinner was neglected from the third T20I playing XI vs Australia, and in all likelihood, he has already flown back to India.

Kuldeep's importance in Test squad

Kuldeep Yadav has had a phenomenal 2025 across formats and as a result, he is certainly India’s most important player against the Proteas team. He was outstanding against the West Indies in the home Test series, and the bowler is in the form of his life.

There is a theory that South African batters struggle against quality spin-bowlers, and hence, Kuldeep’s role becomes doubly important as India will rely heavily on him to dismantle their batters. As a result, he was released from the squad to get into the red-ball groove.
