While the Indian Test team sweats it out in England ahead of the third match at Lord’s, Shreyas Iyer is living the good life as he is soaking up the Spanish sun and serving style on the streets. The PBKS skipper, who is currently not part of the Test squad, has swapped whites for white tees and cricket shoes for cool kicks, enjoying some well-deserved downtime.

Shreyas Iyer’s Story From Spain Breaks The Internet

On Wednesday, Shreyas Iyer dropped an Instagram story straight from Spain, dressed sharp in a white tee, brown pants and spotless white boat shoes along with two glasses of pistachio shake. But it wasn’t just the outfit that caught the internet’s eye, it was the caption.

"A Pistachio in a Matcha world,” wrote Iyer.

That is a subtle swipe at the matcha madness that has taken over everyone’s feed. While the rest of the world is downing green tea shots like it is a magic potion, the middle-order maverick is vibing on his own pistachio flavour. And he apparently looks not in a rush to hop on any wellness bandwagon.

Meanwhile, Shreyas might not be in the Test squad right now but his numbers this season speak volumes. He bossed the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy with 480 runs in five matches, averaging nearly 69.

And in IPL 2025, he wasn’t just PBKS’s captain, he was their anchor, finisher and spark plug all rolled into one. With 604 runs in 17 games, he took Punjab to the final and almost over the line.

Despite all that, he was overlooked for the Test series after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s retirements. But if there's one thing we know about Shreyas Iyer, it’s this: he doesn’t sulk, he reloads.

Waiting For That Comeback

He last played a Test in 2024 against England at home and since his debut in 2021, he has notched up 811 runs in 14 Tests, including a century and five fifties. Not shabby at all.

There is still chatter about his place in the red-ball setup, especially with slots open in India’s middle order. A couple of strong first-class knocks and he might just waltz back into the whites.

But till then, it’s churros over challenges, sunsets over slip catching and a little Instagram sass to go with it.
