Yuzvendra Chahal is set to return to English county for the upcoming 2025 season for Northamptonshire. The cricketer signed a short-term contract with the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club back in August 2024 last year.

At the moment, Chahal is slated to represent the Punjab Kings franchise in the IPL 2025 season between March 22 and May 25. The wily leg-spinner was roped in by the PBKS management back during the IPL 2025 mega auction last November for a staggering sum of Rs. 18 crores.

Yuzvendra Chahal to return to Northamptonshire

On March 13, the Northamptonshire County confirmed that Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be making his return to the cricket club for the upcoming 2025 English County season. The 34-year-old will be available to play Rothesay County Championship and Metro Bank One Day Cup, and his commitment will start with Northamptonshire’s match on June 22 against Middlesex.

Notably, his county stint will also coincide with India's five-match Test series against England, thus indicating that the cricketer might be eyeing a surprise slot in India's Test line-up.

Yuzvendra Chahal picked up five wickets in his Northamptonshire debut last year, doing so against Kent in the One-Day Cup. He also snared career-best first-class figures of 9-99 against Derbyshire in the County Championship.

Currently out of contention for Team India action, Chahal played the last of his 152 international matches back in August 2023 against West Indies in Lauderhill. Another successful stint with the Derbyshire Cricket Club will surely strengthen his claim of making a potential return to Indian colours.

As of now, the 34-year-old is bracing himself up for the IPL 2025 season for the Punjab Kings. After spending three seasons at the Rajasthan Royals, Yuzvendra Chahal was released by the franchise, allowing the PBKS management to snap him up at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
