Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, on Monday evening, ferociously called out a racist comment on him by an X (Twitter) user.
The ex-cricketer had posted a picture with an elephant while celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ayyapan Temple in Mahalingapuram.
A random Twitter user, taking undue advantage of the anonymity, commented,
"Hi sir, that elephant is more visible at night than you."
He strongly reacted to the racist comment, replying,
"Yes, I am dark. It's a temple festival and you people are so cheap."
The ex-India spinner has also been in the news recently for his comments on veteran cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin since the World Cup.
He famously replied to a tweet, saying, "Tried calling him a few times for his 100th Test. Just cut off my call. Sent him a message no reply. Thats the respect we former cricketers get."
Following the reply, Twitter users barraged him with criticism for his older tweets about Ashwin, calling him a selfish player and accusing him of being successful on doctored pitches at home.
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has been a habitual replier of random tweets, which hasn't been going well with the fans. Adding fuel to the fire, Ashwin recently took a dig at him through a quoted tweet.
In his four-year stint with the Indian team, from 1983-1987, the retired spinner played nine Tests and 16 One Day Internationals, scalping 26 and 15 wickets, respectively.
In his first-class and List A career for Tamil Nadu, he has 154 and 37 wickets to his name, while also scoring 1802 runs in the longer format.
