'Cut Off My Call' - Former Spinner Accuses Ashwin of Insulting Him Ahead Of 100th Test

Former Indian spinner, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has accused modern-day legend Ravichandran Ashwin of snubbing him in the lead-up to his landmark 100th Test match for India.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan took to X, unleashing a volley of accusations, claiming Ashwin blatantly ignored his attempts at extending congratulations, a move that has sparked a controversial storm and debate among fans and players alike.

Sivaramakrishnan accuses Ashwin of ignoring and disrespecting him

The incident, which came to light through Laxman Sivaramakrishnan's tweets, saw him alleging that Ashwin not only refused to take his calls but also left his heartfelt messages without a reply, effectively ghosting the former cricketer during a time that should have been marked by camaraderie and mutual respect.

"Tried calling him a few times to wish him for his 100th Test. Just cut off my call. Sent him a message, no reply. That's the respect we former cricketers get," Sivaramakrishnan expressed, voicing his dismay over the perceived disregard.

However, this accusation has opened old wounds and brought back into focus Sivaramakrishnan's previous scathing critiques of Ashwin.

Notably, in October of the previous year, Sivaramakrishnan had launched a vehement attack on Ashwin's performance, dubbing him a 'liability fielder' and branding him the 'most unfit cricketer,' alongside criticizing his bowling on 'tempered pitches' in India.

However, in an attempt to quell the rising storm, Sivaramakrishnan later clarified his past comments, asserting they were misconstrued critiques aimed at minor adjustments in Ashwin's bowling action rather than personal attacks.

This clarification came on the back of Ashwin's olive branch last year, where he reportedly reached out to Sivaramakrishnan to discuss his bowling, a gesture that now seems overshadowed by the recent allegations of neglect.

As Ravichandran Ashwin gears up to don the Indian jersey for his 100th Test match against England at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, becoming only the third spinner in Indian cricket history to achieve this milestone, the controversy surrounding him and Sivaramakrishnan has overshadowed the historic occasion.
