Yashasvi Jaiswal to play Ranji Trophy match: Report
As per a recent report, Indian opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal will reportedly play Mumbai’s Elite Group A match against Jammu and Kashmir between January 23 and January 26 in BKC. The 23-year-old will also be expected to commence his training from January 15 onwards at the same venue.
The match marks Mumbai’s sixth fixture of the ongoing 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, and they currently ranked third on the Elite Group A points table with three wins, one defeat and one draw from five matches.
Yashasvi Jaiswal aggregated 391 runs from 10 innings against Australia during the recently-concluded five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Test series ‘Down Under’. The dashing Indian opening batter plundered a match-winning ton at Perth’s Optus Stadium, and punched out twin half-centuries at the MCG.
Currently averaging 52.88 in Test cricket, Jaiswal has been reportedly considered for national vice-captaincy ahead of Team India’s five-match tour of England in June this year. However, neither the Indian team management nor the selection committee have made an official statement yet.
It is also worth noting that the youngster will likely be making a cut into the Indian national squad for the impending 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan and in the UAE this February.
