India will be hosting England in a three-match ODI series from February 6 to 12, marking the Men in Blue's first 50-over assignment since their disappointing loss to Sri Lanka in August 2024. With only three ODI matches played in the previous year, the team is looking to gain some much-needed match practice.

Before the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 begins in February, India will also face England in a five-match T20 series starting January 22, followed by the ODI series. The selectors are expected to announce the squad for both the white-ball series and the Champions Trophy on January 12.

With this in mind, three debutants are likely to feature in the upcoming England series. Let’s take a closer look at these players.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young star from India, has been in exceptional form across formats. Although the 23-year-old has yet to debut in ODIs, he has been a standout performer in the domestic circuit, especially in Tests. In the latest news, his impressive performances recently have earned him a spot in the squad for the England series.

Jaiswal is expected to serve as a backup opener to Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. If selected, he could make his ODI debut in the series, joining the squad as the third opener. His recent form and consistency make him a promising addition to the team, and he could be a key player for India going forward, including in the Champions Trophy.

Nitish Kumar Reddy

Nitish Kumar Reddy, the talented batter from Andhra Pradesh, is another player likely to make his debut in the ODI format. Reddy gained recognition with his standout performance in the IPL, where he played a crucial role in SunRisers Hyderabad’s journey to the final. Scoring 303 runs in the tournament, including a top score of 76*, earned him a call-up to the Indian T20 side.

His excellent performances continued in Test cricket, where he made a name for himself with consistent scores in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Reddy even registered his first international century during the Boxing Day Test. With such solid form, he is tipped to make his ODI debut in the series against England.

Harshit Rana

Harshit Rana, the 23-year-old pacer, has been performing exceptionally well and could make his debut in the ODI format during the England series. Though he hasn't played an ODI yet, his performances in the IPL and Tests have caught the selectors’ attention. Under Gautam Gambhir's mentorship at KKR, Rana took 19 wickets in 13 matches during the IPL 2024, playing a vital role in their title win.

His bowling skills were further showcased during his Test debut, where he picked up 4 wickets across three innings. With his experience in the IPL and domestic cricket, Harshit Rana is expected to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series.
