In a significant development, explosive Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has confirmed his availability for the remainder of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. As revealed by Cricbuzz, a senior official of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has revealed that Jaiswal has given his nod to play the famed T20 competition.

Jaiswal ready to play Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy; no clarity on Rohit yet

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a phenomenal outing in the third ODI against South Africa, slamming a magnificent century. His maiden ODI ton powered India to a dominant nine-wicket victory, as the Men in Blue registered a 2-1 series win over the Proteas.

A day after Jaiswal scripted India's smooth win in the ODI series decider in Visakhapatnam, a report from Cricbuzz has claimed that the promising batter would turn up for Mumbai in the remainder of the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

"He has made himself available for the SMAT campaign," an MCA official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

However, the same report also stated that despite several media houses suggesting Rohit Sharma's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy return for the super league, the former Indian captain has yet to confirm his availability, saying,"He has not confirmed it yet."

Jaiswal's potential return, a much-needed boost for Mumbai

Led by Shardul Thakur, Mumbai have enjoyed stellar success in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They have won five out of six matches, currently claiming the first spot in the elite group A standings with 20 points.

They have their final group-stage match coming up against Odisha on December 8, and if Jaiswal joins the Mumbai camp, it will be a massive boost for them ahead of the Super League.

The southpaw has played 28 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, amassing 648 runs at an average of 27 and a strike rate of 136.42.
