At 21, Mukul Choudhury is shaping into one of Rajasthan’s brightest batting prospects, a middle-order wicketkeeper capable of elite ball-striking and calm decision-making under pressure. Though he made his senior debut back in 2023, things had not quite fallen into place. But this season, everything changed dramatically.

His transformation began in U23 cricket, where he produced one of the most dominant campaigns in recent memory. In the Men’s State A Trophy 2025, India’s premier U23 50-over tournament, Mukul amassed 617 runs at an astonishing average of 102.83 and a blistering strike-rate of 142.49.

Mukul has batted in multiple positions in the middle-order but mostly at 6. His tally included an unbeaten 147, two centuries in total, four half-centuries, and an incredible 34 sixes, the most in the tournament. Consistency, power, and clarity in shot selection defined his run in this tournament, showcasing a player equally comfortable dispatching pace and spin.

This red-hot form earned Mukul Choudhary another shot in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year, and he delivered instantly. Chasing 176 against Delhi in the recent group stage game, Rajasthan were wobbling at 98 for 4 inside 13 overs when Mukul walked in.

What followed was a breathtaking sequence of events. After settling in and taking his time, he absolutely hammered Ayush Badoni in particular, hammering five sixes in ten balls against him and completely turning the chase on its head.

With 25 needed in the final over, Mukul stayed ice-cold and continued the assault. With five required off the last ball, he drilled one straight down the ground to seal a dramatic victory, remaining unbeaten on 62*.

With IPL teams increasingly valuing Indian keeper-finishers, Mukul Choudhury might just be the most underrated investment ahead of the next auction. His profile mirrors the rise of players like Urvil Patel, but Mukul does it down the order, exactly where finishing gems are hardest to find.
