Yashasvi Jaiswal Ignored As ICC Reveals Nominees For Men's Test Cricketer Of The Year

It a significant development, ICC  has revealed four nominees for the Test Cricketer Of The Year 2024. The list has the names of Jasprit Bumrah, along with Joe Root, Harry Brook and Kamindu Mendis. 

The Nominees For ICC Men's Test Cricketer Of The Year

Jasprit Bumrah 

The first and foremost nominee, undoubtedly, is Jasprit Bumrah. He has enjoyed an outstanding year in Test cricket, making him the first nomination for the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year. The fast bowler claimed 71 wickets in just 13 Test matches during 2024, surpassing his combined total from the previous four years.  It would not be wrong to say that Jasprit Bumrah is the lone warrior for India in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. 

Joe Root

Along with Jasprit Bumrah, Joe Root, is the second nominated player for ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the year. The England's talismanic batter, had an extraordinary year with the bat. He finished as the highest run-scorer in Test cricket, making 1,556 runs at an impressive average of 55.57. His contribution includes six centuries and five fifties. 

Kamindu Mendis

Kamindu Mendis is the third in the list and has also been nominated for ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the year. The Sri Lankan all-rounder, enjoyed a breakout year that saw him rise to prominence. He became the third-fastest player to reach 1,000 Test runs, matching the legendary Don Bradman’s record of achieving the milestone in just 13 innings. 

Harry Brook

Harry Brook, the dynamic player, also had a stellar year and has been included in the list of  ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the year. He has scored 1,100 runs in 12 Tests at an average of 55, including four centuries and three fifties. It is important to mention that, Brook's exceptional knock of  317-runs came against Pakistan, and this is one of the highest individual scores in Test cricket in recent years.
