Another ICC tournament final and once again the Australian team has made it to the final hurdle as they aim to capture their second successive WTC title. The defending champions defeated India in the 2023 edition and now have a chance to cement their legacy as the best Test team in the world.

The task won't be an easy affair as the Pat Cummins led side will be up against a supremely confident South African team who are eager to break their trophy drought. Throughout the history of the game, the Aussies have dominated ICC tournaments, irrespective of the format. They have reached so many finals that it is difficult to keep an account of it.

With the WTC final coming up, here is a list of all the finals won by the Australian side.

The dominance started by winning the 1987 World Cup and they took their game a notch up by winning three consecutive World Cups in 1999, 2003, and 2007. In between the team also captured their maiden Champions Trophy in 2006 and then in 2009.

After a 8-year gap, the 50-overs World Cup once again came to their homeland with a win in the 2015 edition. For the next 6 years there was a trophy drought before the team won their maiden T20 World Cup, followed by the WTC trophy in 2023 and the World Cup in the same year.

This year with the WTC finale, Australia have a chance to capture their 11th ICC title, a feat never achieved before.

Can South Africa stop Aussie juggernaut?

Australia have only lost three finals in their career (1975 World Cup, 1996 World Cup and the T20 WC in 2010). South Africa have a chance to become the fourth team to beat the Aussies in a final, but the task won't be easy since the team is riding high on confidence and the South Africans have not won an ICC tournament since the 1998 ICC Knockout Cup.
