The Indian Premier League (IPL) is done and dusted and now the focus shifts towards the purest form of the game - Test cricket. The World Test Championship (WTC) finale will be the next big event as the two cricketing powerhouses - Australia and South Africa will battle for supremacy.

The Aussies are the defending champions and the favourites to retain their crown. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, the team looks complete with hardly any weakness in their armour. The team has plenty of match-winners in their squad but keeping in mind the Lord's pitch, here are 3 players who can turn the tides at this venue.

1) Steve Smith

The master of the Test format, Steve Smith is the undisputed best in whites and will once again be the key player for the Kangaroos. His terrific record in England speaks volumes of his ability to deliver in tough conditions.

(Smith record at Lord's)

525 runs at an average of 58.33, including two centuries speaks about Smith's calibre in whites. Lord's is generally a bowling surface but despite that the Aussie batter has terrific numbers here and could be a danger man for South Africa in the WTC final.

2) Pat Cummins

The leader of the Australian team, Pat Cummins is a warrior and when the chips get down, he lifts the morale of the team with his bowling. It was evident during the 2023 World Cup final as he silenced the Indian crowd at their own backyard. The pacer also has a stupendous record at Lord's and this could work in his favour.

(Cummins stats at Lord's)

2 matches, 10 wickets with an average of 21 sums up Cummins at Lord's The slope there is world famous and it helps the pacers generate lateral movement. Cummins is a master of it and he could be a threat for the Proteas team.

3) Travis Head

The King of clutch performances, Travis Head is known for stepping up in big finals and don't be surprised if he yet again shows his class at Lord's. In the last WTC finale Vs India in 2023, Head stood tall and scored a brilliant hundred to seal the win.

Then once again in the finale against India in World Cup 2023, Head slammed a majestic century to help the Aussies win the title. Whenever key moments arrive, Head always stands like a warrior and for South Africa to win, they need to get rid off him immediately.
