A couple of months ago, India's chances at securing the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy and qualifying for the World Test Championship 2025 were inevitable. However, there recent outings both at home and now in Australia have put a massive full-stop for any qualification dreams.

Unfortunately, after Australia defeated the visitors by six wickets in the final Test match of the five-match series, India were eliminated from the WTC final race. Australia and South Africa To Play WTC Final

Despite a solid performance throughout the WTC cycle, where India played 19 matches, winning 9 and losing 8, the loss to Australia meant they missed out on a spot in the final. India accumulated 114 points, with a percentage of 50, but it wasn’t enough to surpass the top two teams.

South Africa led the standings with a 66.67% win rate, while Australia, with 130 points and 63.73%, secured their place in the final. India's inconsistent results, especially their losses in crucial matches, ultimately cost them heavily.

Bumrah-Less India Lose At SCG

India, defending a modest 162-run target, struggled from the beginning. Jasprit Bumrah’s absence in the second innings due to injury, coupled with wayward seam bowling, made the chase easier for Australia. Prasidh Krishna’s three wickets provided a brief glimmer of hope, but Travis Head and Usman Khawaja steadied the ship before Khawaja’s dismissal by Mohammed Siraj.

Debutant Beau Webster then finished things off in style, securing the win for Australia. India, having led by 145 runs on Day 3, were bowled out for just 16 more runs in the final innings.
