India's stand-in captain Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir reflected the emotions of all the Indian fans as they shared an emotional hug after India's defeat to Australia in the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday. Despite soaring high in the first half of 2024, the transition period has been challenging for the Indian cricket team and cost them big time.
In the video, Gambhir is seen hugging a visibly emotional Kohli before the Australian team went to collect the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy after 10 years. Kohli, who took charge of the team mid-way after Jasprit Bumrah went for scans on Day 2, would have hoped to turn things around for India. However, tough luck persisted for the visitors.

India Out of WTC Final Race
India’s World Test Championship (WTC) hopes were dashed after Australia defeated them by six wickets in the final Test of the series. Despite a strong campaign, winning 9 of 19 matches, India’s 114 points and 60% win rate fell short of securing a final spot.
South Africa topped the standings with a 66.67% win rate, while Australia, with 130 points (63.73%), sealed their place. India’s inconsistent performances, particularly in key matches, cost them dearly. Though disappointed, India’s WTC journey showed promise, and they now shift focus to improving their chances in the next cycle.
