Only two out of the 17 Indian players who registered for the 2024 edition of The Hundred were selected. Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh who played for RCB team are set to participate in this season's Hundred.

Following the Women's Premier League's conclusion in India, where RCB emerged victorious, focus now shifts to The Hundred, the next major franchise cricket event.

While several Indian players registered to participate, only two RCB players secured spots in the championship. Smriti Mandhana will return to her franchise, Southern Brave, with whom she won the title last season. Meanwhile, Richa Ghosh will join Birmingham Phoenix for the upcoming season.

Mandhana is not only India's but also RCB's most reliable batter. As a left-handed opening batter, she fits into most teams worldwide. Besides her batting prowess, she has also showcased excellent leadership skills, as evidenced by leading RCB to victory in the WPL.

On the other hand, Richa Ghosh emerged as RCB's game-changer this season. Serving as the wicketkeeper-batter for RCB, she has proven her ability to bat anywhere in the middle order and deliver big hits. She had a remarkable performance in the WPL, particularly when partnered with Ellyse Perry. Richa's contributions are expected to be crucial for Birmingham Phoenix.

As expected, Australian players were highly sought after, with Meg Lanning, Sophie Molineux, Beth Mooney, and Ashleigh Gardner securing spots in The Hundred. Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry are in Birmingham Phoenix. Richa Ghosh will reunite with them in The Hundred.

Indian players who were not picked for Hundred

Jemimah Rodrigues, Shreyanka Patil,  Kiran Navgire, Renuka Singh, Yastika, Veda and Shikha Pandey are among the prominent names who missed out on being drafted for The Hundred. Harmanpreet Kaur who played for Trent Rockets last season was also not picked. Hopefully, all these players will get their opportunity in the future.
