Even before a delivery is being bowled, Women's Premier League (WPL) franchise, Gujarat Giants have suffered a 'massive' blow with star all-rounder, Deandra Dottin ruled out of the tournament.

Although the reason behind the replacement is still unknown, this could prove to be a 'big blow' for the Gujarat team, who are set to kick-start their WPL campaign against Mumbai Indians on Saturday.

Australian all-rounder, Kim Garth has been named as her replacement. Garth went unsold in the inaugural WPL auction, and was a part of the Australia women's team for the T20 World Cup in South Africa.

She played only two warm-up matches before the tournament, one against her former nation, Ireland.

Garth had switched alliance from Ireland to Australia and recently signed a three-year deal with Melbourne Stars. The all-rounder joined the Giants squad on Friday.

Talking about Dottin, she was purchased by Giants for INR 60 lakh, and provides stability in both batting and bowling.

Meanwhile, Dottin, in a social media post, has revealed that she is fully fit and doesn't know why she has been replaced by the Giants.

Last year, she announced her retirement from international cricket, but vowed to play franchise cricket across the globe.

Gujarat Giants will be led by Australian star, Beth Mooney, who recently won the Women's T20 World Cup.
