BGT 2023: Former Australian cricketer 'Lambasts' India for Preparing Rank Turners

Former Australian cricketer, Ian Chappell has slammed the Indian team for preparing rank turners in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series.

India defeated Australia in the first two Test matches, but the rank turner back-fired on them in Indore, where Australia thumped them by 9-wickets to make a comeback in the series.

Despite heavy criticism by the media and critics, Australia bounced back in style and outplayed the home side in all three departments to seal a comfortable win.

Chappell stated that Australia have rectified their errors from the first two games, and the time has come for India to do the same. He was also disappointed with the rank turners prepared for such a high-profile series.

“Talking about trying to prepare pitches that suit India. Have India forgotten that they won the last two Test series in Australia? What the hell the administrators, players, coaches, anybody outside the curator (were doing?). What the hell are they having an input into the pitch for?" Chappell said.

The former cricketer opined that the first innings lead that the Australian side had worked in favour of them in such a low-scoring game.

“The key to it in my opinion was bowling India out cheaply in the first innings. Once they did that, they got themselves a chance to a decent lead. It wasn’t a huge lead but on this pitch a pretty useful one. And then in the second innings only having to chase a low score," he added.

With 6 days left in the fourth Test match, India have time to rectify their mistakes. The Ahmedabad Test begins on March 9.
