There is some good news if you are an Australian fan. The Border-Gavaskar Series is just around the corner and the home side were marred with a couple of injuries, including that of star all-rounder, Cameron Green.
The Aussie all-rounder suffered a back injury, last month and was doubtful for the Border-Gavaskar series against India, starting on November 22. However, the latest report from The Age suggests that Green's rehabilitation is going smoothly and the explosive cricketer will take part in the high-octane clash against India.
He complained of back soreness during the 3rd ODI against England last month, and was subsequently ruled out from the final two matches. Cam Green is a vital cog in the Australian Test team, and as per The Age, he will feature in the squad as a pure batter, and not as an all-rounder. Pace bowling takes a toll on the back, and hence, the Aussie management doesn't want to take any risks.
Cameron Green's importance in Australian Test side
The world cricket doesn't have too many great all-rounders at the moment, however, Green is certainly the best of the lot. He can bowl at quick pace, and can certainly bat in tricky conditions. In the last two-years, there have been countless instances when he has bailed Australia out of tricky situations.
In 28 matches, Green has accumulated 1377 runs, with an average of 36.23, including 2 centuries. He is also lethal with the red-ball, claiming 35 wickets, including a solitary 5-wicket haul.
Green provides stability to the fragile Australian middle-order, and with Steve Smith to open alongside Usman Khawaja, Australia need a reliable player in the middle-order.
