Sarfaraz Khan, the star Indian batter, has not been named in Mumbai's squad for the initial two matches of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, as announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association. Mumbai will start their Ranji campaign with an away game against Baroda while their second game is against Maharashtra at home.
According to Press Trust of India, the star middle order batter will be in National Cricket Academy for the preparation for the New Zealand series when the first Ranji match will start on 11th of October. The second game will be played from 18th of October and it will collide with first Test against New Zealand. So, with Sarfaraz Khan set to be part of the Indian team for the New Zealand Test series, Mumbai selectors have not included him in the squad.
Sarfaraz Khan recently scored a double century in the Irani Cup clash against Rest of India and has been their most successful batters for last few years. However, with him now a regular in the Indian Test side, Sarfarz is likely to miss the majority of the upcoming Ranji season.
