Team India is all set to host the ICC World Cup 2023 on their own for the first time this year. The upcoming World Cup will kick off on October 5, featuring the opening match between reigning champions England and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The marquee event will run for 46 days and will see 10 teams vying for the Men’s One-Day International (ODI) cricket championship in the final on November 19.

The 10 teams featuring at this year’s prestigious event are India, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. West Indies, unfortunately, failed to qualify for the tournament.

While India secured an automatic spot as the host nation, the remaining nine countries underwent a three-year qualification journey, involving multiple stages and smaller tournaments to secure a place in the marquee event.

This will be an enormous event in India, with all the tickets already sold out. According to the Economic Times, the 2023 World Cup is expected to boost the Indian economy by a whopping 13,500 crore rupees.

This number is likely calculated considering the economic impact of more international visitors, increased domestic expenditure, and the substantial broadcasting contracts associated with this globally renowned competition.

Meanwhile, Team India appears to be in excellent form as they prepare for the upcoming major event. They are determined to put an end to their decade-long ICC trophy drought by clinching the ICC World Cup 2023. Their last ICC 50-overs World Cup victory came under the leadership of MS Dhoni back in 2011.
