On Tuesday, September 26, the Pakistan cricket team kicked off their journey to India, departing from Lahore. They will have a layover in Dubai before reaching Hyderabad, India, on Wednesday, September 27, just ahead of their warm-up match against New Zealand.

Before setting off for India, Pakistan's captain, Babar Azam, took a moment to write an emotional post for fans on a social media platform X. He appealed to all Pakistan fans to back the team wholeheartedly in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023

Here’s what Babar Azam wrote on X [Formerly Twitter]:

“As we head for the World Cup, we seek prayers of all the Pakistan cricket team fans and well-wishers. I am certain that you will continue to extend your support and love, which you have always done," Babar tweeted.

There has been a big controversy surrounding the issuance of visas to the Pakistan cricket team, with their management claiming that India delayed the process.

Here’s what PCB wrote in a statement to ICC:

"There has been an extraordinary delay in getting clearance and securing Indian visas for the Pakistan team for the ICC World Cup. We have written to the ICC raising our concerns about inequitable treatment towards Pakistan and reminding them of these obligations towards the World Cup."

"It’s a matter of disappointment that the Pakistan team has to go through the uncertainty ahead of the major tournament. We have been reminding them about their obligations for the last three years and it has all come down to the last two days with our first warm game scheduled on September 29.”

However, reports indicate that the Pakistan management applied for Indian visas on September 19, and the typical processing time is 4 to 5 days, suggesting no actual delay in visa issuance.

The ten-nation World Cup is set to kick off on October 5 in Ahmedabad, with the warm-up matches getting underway from Friday, September 29. The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan will be played on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
