Suryakumar Yadav, who was under the gun heading into the three-match ODI series, especially after his tough luck last time when Australia came to India for ODIs and he scored three ducks in three matches, finally found his form with two back-to-back half centuries in the first two ODIs against Australia.

The Mumbai batter was an absolute beast in India's second ODI against Australia on September 24. He unleashed his power-hitting skills, smashing the Aussie bowlers to all corners. He blasted an unbeaten 72 off just 37 balls, helping India set a massive total of 399 runs in 50 overs, their highest ever against Australia in ODIs.

Suryakumar Yadav unleashed a crazy variety of shots during his time at the crease, giving the Australia bowlers and fielders a real run for their money. His gameplay was so spectacular that anyone who witnessed it couldn't help but be in awe, and that includes former Australian batter Mark Waugh, who was no exception.

Waugh, in a discussion with JioCinema highlighted the incredible wrist work that allowed Suryakumar Yadav to dominate every corner of the field:

“He (Surya) is completely unique. I have never seen a player hit the ball to the areas he hits it. His real skill is to smash the ball where there is no fielder. That sounds simple but demands skills. He can manipulate the field and find the gaps.”

Former India player Abhishek Nayar was also blown away by Suryakumar Yadav's batting in the Indore ODI. Nayar stated that the conditions at Holkar Stadium were like a jackpot for Surya.

Here’s what Abhishek Nayar had to say:

"It was tailor-made for him. The platform was set with 10 overs to go in good batting conditions. It’s the dimensions he scored runs today. We saw him go square of the wicket, which he is known for. But the shots he hit over covers and mid-off were impressive.”

With Suryakumar Yadav in form and Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer also delivering with the bat, the Team India management now faces a happy headache when it comes to selecting the middle order for the ICC World Cup 2023.
