Women's T20 World Cup 2024 To Be Shifted To UAE From Violence-Hit Bangladesh- Reports

In the latest development around the Women's T20 World Cup 2024, there are reports that the tournament is likely to be shifted to UAE from violence-hit Bangladesh. 

A report from Cricbuzz mentioned that the ICC members held a virtual meeting on Tuesday, where they agreed upon the fact that the T20 World Cup, set to begin on October 3, cannot be held in Bangladesh and indicated at shifting it to UAE. 

The report added that the Bangladesh Cricket Board too have agreed to shift the base to UAE, but will continue to be the host. The situation will be similar to the 2022 Asia Cup, where Sri Lanka were set to host the tournament but couldn't because of turmoil in the country and the tournament had to move to UAE.

What Is Happening In Bangladesh?

Bangladesh has witnessed protests in the past two months, which led to the ICC keeping a keen eye on the matter. The protest grew rapidly and it led to political turmoil as their ex-PM Sheikh Hasina had to flee to India. 

BCCI Rejects Offer To Host T20 World Cup 2024

Recently, BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed that the BCB had asked India to host the upcoming women's T20 World Cup, but he rejected the offer.
