As many as eight high-profile cricketers have made it to the marquee list ahead of the upcoming 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction. South African captain and in-form opening batter Laura Wolvaardt was among those who made it to the list, alongside fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur and India’s 2025 World Cup winning all-rounder Deepti Sharma.
It is worth noting that the WPL 2026 auction will be organised on November 27 later this month, i.e., roughly a month-and-a-half prior to the launch of the WPL 2026 season.
Laura Wolvaardt keeps reserve price at Rs. 30 lakhs
As reported by Cricbuzz on Thursday, November 20, eight cricketers have made it to the marquee list for the upcoming WPL 2026 auction. New Zealand stars Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr, champion Australian batters Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning, England spinner Sophie Ecclestone, South African captain Laura Wolvaardt and India’s 2025 World Cup winning members Deepti Sharma and Renuka Thakur constituted the list.
Here is a look at the reserve price of each of the eight aforementioned cricketers for the WPL 2026 auction:
- Laura Wolvaardt – Rs. 30 lakhs
- Renuka Singh Thakur – Rs. 40 lakhs
- Sophie Devine – Rs. 50 lakhs
- Sophie Ecclestone – Rs. 50 lakhs
- Alyssa Healy – Rs. 50 lakhs
- Amelia Kerr – Rs. 50 lakhs
- Meg Lanning – Rs. 50 lakhs
- Deepti Sharma – Rs. 50 lakhs
Laura Wolvaardt recently concluded the 2025 Women’s World Cup in India as its highest run-getter, all while steering the South African women’s team into the final of the tournament. For India, all-rounder Deepti Sharma bagged the ‘Player of the Tournament’ for her World Cup-winning crusade, and she was ably assisted by the new ball strikes of fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur.
Meg Lanning, who was released by the Delhi Capitals franchise after three runners-up seasons, has been making the headlines through her prolific run in WBBL 2025.
All eight cricketers will be expected to set the cash registers ringing at the WPL 2026 auction, when it kicks off on November 27 later this month.
