Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the legends of the game and is one of the great match-winners for India in Test cricket. He is known for his astute decision-making skills and has now surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from international cricket at the end of the Gabba Test.
It is a big news in the Indian cricket that a player of his stature has announced his retirement midway during the series, and it has increased his curiosity about his participation in IPL 2025. Ashwin has been bought at a price of 9.75 Crore by Chennai Super Kings and retirement would not affect his participation in the IPL as he clearly announced that he is retiring only from international cricket.

He also told the press conference that he feels that he still has some cricket left in him and he would continue playing Club Cricket. Ashwin has been a great servant of Indian cricket and has 537 wickets in 106 Test matches. He picked record 37 five-wicket hauls in the longest format and is the second leading wicket-taker for India in whites.
Ashwin played his last Test match at the Adelaide Oval in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy where he picked one wicket while his last ODI game came in the 2023 World Cup. His last T20I game came in the 2022 T20 World Cup while Ashwin's last IPL franchise was Rajasthan Royals.
He would now ben donning CSK's jersey again, the franchise for which he made his IPL debut and the local fans would be hoping that he enjoys and delivers big for them in his last ride as a cricketer.
