MS Dhoni, the 43-year-old uncapped player might create history on Saturday as he could become the first uncapped player to lead an IPL franchise. Chennai Super Kings' regular captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad injured his hand during the last match against Rajasthan and is in doubt to face the Delhi Capitals on Saturday.

Will MSD become first uncapped player to lead IPL side?

Now, as per reports, MS Dhoni is likely to lead the Super Kings, which will mark his return as the captain after one full season. After winning the IPL 2023 title in a thriller against Gujarat Titans, MSD stepped down from the post and Gaikwad was appointed the new captain, however, he might have a golden chance to achieve this staggering feat as the former India captain could once again lead his beloved CSK.

The CSK management don't have too many options for a captaincy replacement and will go with their most trusted weapon in MS Dhoni. Prior to playing for Super Kings as a player, MSD led them from the inaugural season in 2008, and after leaving the position in 2022, he once again became their full-time leader.

MS Dhoni captaincy record in IPL

The most successful IPL captain alongside Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni has five titles to his name and has a stellar record as the captain.

He led CSK in 226 matches, winning 133 matches and losing 91. He had a win percentage of 58.84 and was instrumental in their success since IPL came into existence.
