Hardik Pandya was on fire tonight in the ongoing IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on April 4. The MI skipper delivered a career-best bowling performance, picking up his first-ever 5-wicket haul in the IPL and he also became the first IPL captain to take a fifer.
After winning the toss, MI opted to bowl first, but Lucknow got off to a flying start. Mitchell Marsh took charge early, smashing 60 runs off just 30 balls and helped LSG reach 69 without losing a wicket in the powerplay. However, Mumbai bounced back when Vignesh Puthur gave them their first breakthrough in the 7th over by dismissing Marsh.

From there, Hardik Pandya stepped up and completely changed the game. He bowled with great intensity and picked up key wickets at regular intervals. He sent back Nicholas Pooran for 12 and Rishabh Pant for just 2 in a fiery spell.
Later, Aiden Markram, who had built a 51-run partnership with Ayush Badoni, also fell to Pandya after scoring 53 runs off 38 balls. Badoni looked calm initially but caught behind for 30.
Even in the final overs, Pandya kept making an impact. He dismissed David Miller in the last over and on the very next ball, Pandya cleaned up Akash Deep to complete his maiden IPL fifer, although he missed out on a hat-trick.
The 31-year-old ended with sensational figures of 5 wickets for 36 runs, marking the best-ever bowling performance by a Mumbai Indians captain in IPL history.
