During the inaugural match of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024, a heartwarming moment captured the attention of cricket fans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on August 19. 

In a viral video clip, India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, captain of Purani Delhi-6, was seen sharing a special embrace with India's veteran opener, Shikhar Dhawan.

The incident occurred after Pant scored a brisk 35 off 32 deliveries, featuring four boundaries and a towering six.

As Pant walked back to the dugout after his dismissal, Shikhar Dhawan, who co-owns the South Delhi Superstarz, paused his ongoing interview with the broadcaster on the sidelines to hug the young wicketkeeper-batter. 

Their bond, forged over years of playing together for the Indian team, Delhi state team, and Delhi Daredevils in the IPL, was evident in this touching moment.

As for the match, South Delhi Superstarz won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rishabh Pant's Purani Delhi-6 posted a competitive target of 197 runs in 20 overs. 

However, Ayush Badoni led his team, the South Delhi Superstarz, to a thrilling victory, chasing down the target with three wickets to spare, marking the first win of the tournament.
