West Indies have announced a strong 15-member squad for their upcoming One Day International (ODI) series in Ireland and England.

They will travel to Europe later this month to play a total of six ODI matches, three against Ireland and three against England. These matches are important as they will help the team move forward on the road to the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.

Shai Hope To Lead Windies Squad

Star batter Shai Hope will once again captain the team. He will be supported by experienced top-order batters like Brandon King, Evin Lewis, and Keacy Carty.

A new young talent, Jewel Andrew, has also been included in the team. He made headlines during the Under-19 World Cup last year by scoring 207 runs in 4 games, including a century and a half-century. He had a strong average of 69 and a strike rate close to 110, which shows his aggressive and confident style.

Most of the players in this squad were also part of the team that defeated Bangladesh 3-0 in an ODI series late last year. However, Shimron Hetmyer is missing from the squad as he is currently playing in the IPL with the Rajasthan Royals.

West Indies Coach Darren Sammy Confident About Progress

Head coach Daren Sammy said that the team is moving in the right direction.

“These matches form a critical component towards the 2027 World Cup and there are signs of the team building consistency following the series sweep against Bangladesh and the win over England late last year," he said.

Along with the squad, West Indies also announced some changes in their coaching team. Former fast bowler and 2012 T20 World Cup winner Ravi Rampaul will now be the bowling coach, replacing James Franklin.

Meanwhile, Irish cricket star Kevin O'Brien will also join the team to help out during the matches against Ireland.
