In massive development, Indian speedster Mohammed Siraj has flown back home after being rested for the upcoming One-Day Internationals (ODI) series against West Indies, which gets underway today.

Siraj, who was meant to lead the attack, has departed from the Caribbean along with Tests specialists like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat, and Navdeep Saini.

As per ESPNcricinfo, the decision comes with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) keeping an eye on Siraj's workload management with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 upon us.

The pacer starred in the second-drawn Test against West Indies at Port of Spain and was the joint second-highest wicket-taker (7) in the two-match series, which India won 1-0.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player is not part of the five T20Is, which will be held after the ODIs.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj has taken the leadership of the bowling attack quite well in ODIs and is currently the No.2 Ranked ICC Bowler behind Josh Hazlewood.

In 24 ODIs since 2019, the 29-year-old has claimed 43 wickets, with two five-wicket hauls.
