Robin Uthappa starred in Harare Hurricanes’ 24-run win over Durban Qalandars in match number 17 of the Zim Afro T10 2023 season. The former Indian batter whacked 53 from just 23 balls, and shared a 92-run stand with opening partner Regis Chakabva at the top of the order.

Uthappa, known for hitting sixes by stepping out to fast bowlers, charged down the crease to Qalandars’ pacer Tendai Chatara to dispatch one of his four maximums of the evening.

Uthappa rolls back clock with trademark swat

Robin Uthappa dispatched five boundaries and four sixes to unleash a thunderous 23-ball 53 against Durban Qalandars. His innings boosted the Hurricanes total to 134-2, which turned out to be a match-winning effort for his side.

Notably, one of his four sixes from the evening reminisced his trademark shot from his playing days for Team India. The right-hander, stepping out of the crease against Tendai Chatara, swatted the Qalandars’ speedster over deep mid-wicket for a six.

Meanwhile, Hurricanes’ 24-run triumph over Qalandars marked their fourth win of the Zim Afro T10 2023 season, and their second in succession this tournament. They are currently placed at number three on the points table, and will now face the Joburg Buffaloes in their final league stage fixture.

Their imminent clash against the Buffaloes will be played on July 27 at the Harare Sports Club.
