The Australian team has been forced to make a sudden change in their Test squad for the West Indian tour. Forgotten pacer, Sean Abbott replaces injured pacer, Brendan Doggett. Doggett was a travelling reserves with the Aussies in the WTC final but suffered a hip injury, as stated by Cricket.com.au.

As per reports, Doggett was set to be a part of the playing XI for the West Indies Tests, however, the pacer will now have to miss the entire tour due to an unfortunate injury. He was pivotal in South Australia's historic Sheffield Shield win as the team won the domestic title for the first in 29 years.

Abbott, too, rejoins the squad after being part of the Test team which toured Sri Lanka, earlier this year. In his last match for New South Wales, the fiery pacer scalped 6/99 and ended the season with 19 wickets.

More injury concerns - Smith doubtful for West Indies tour

Apart from Doggett, the Australian team is also sweating hard on the fitness level of star batter, Steve Smith. The veteran got injured in the WTC finals while taking a catch of Temba Bavuma and was taken off the field as a precautionary measure.

The batter avoided surgery but will travel to the Caribbean with a splint on his finger, which needs to be kept for 8 weeks. The wound should heal in a couple of weeks and Smith could play in the series if he gets used to playing while wearing a splint.

"Fortunately, there's no break there, it just split the skin, which dislocated it and made me feel pretty ill at that stage," Smith said at Lord's after the WTC final.

The Australia tour of West Indies begin from June 25, with the first Test taking place in Bridgetown, Barbados.
