The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly happy with Rahul Dravid's coaching stint and is exploring the possibility of extending his contract, which came to an end after the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

However, the former Indian cricketer, now turned commentator Aakash Chopra, suggests that the demanding nature of coaching the Indian cricket team could lead Rahul Dravid to decline the opportunity for an extended contract due to its impact on his personal life.

Taking the reins post the T20 World Cup 2021 fiasco, Rahul Dravid led India to the top in ICC rankings across formats. Though he guided the team to the World Test Championship 2023 final and ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final, India's ICC trophy drought persisted as they narrowly missed out to Australia on both occasions.

Here’s what Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel:

"Team India's coaching job takes a huge toll. For your family, for your personal life, it's a little harmful, I am telling you very honestly. You are on the road so much that it doesn't work out very well. But again, priorities."

Meanwhile, the BCCI decision-makers have extended Rahul Dravid's coaching tenure. Meanwhile, his whole coaching staff of Vikram Rathour, Paras Mhambrey and T Dilip have been offered an extension.
