The announcement of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad has been delayed due to dissatisfaction from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi regarding the selection process. 

Naqvi has expressed concern over the lack of comprehensive meetings before the squad's finalization. In response, he has requested clarification from the selection committee members.

This decision has postponed the announcement until the selection committee addresses the issues raised. Additionally, internal disagreements within the selection committee regarding the inclusion of certain players have further contributed to the delay. 

Mohsin Naqvi Stops T20 World Cup Squad Announcement

Pakistan stands out as the only team among the participating nations in the T20 World Cup that has yet to announce their squad. 

Initially, they had a plan to reveal the squad after the first T20I against England. Unfortunately, the match was washed out, thwarting efforts to evaluate team combinations before the announcement.

With the ICC's deadline of May 25 for submitting World Cup squads fast approaching, the pressure is mounting on Pakistan. The ongoing T20I series between Pakistan and England, taking place serves as a critical preparation phase for both teams.

The stage is set for a highly anticipated cricket tournament and Pakistan has been placed in Group A, Pakistan will compete against the USA, India, Canada, and Ireland. 

The Men in Green are set to start their campaign against the USA on June 6. The much-awaited clash with arch-rival India will take place on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
