Former Pakistan captain, Younis Khan, has come forward to vouch for resumption of bilateral cricket ties between India and Pakistan as he believes it will help release the pressure and ease up the competitive atmosphere.

India and Pakistan’s cricket ties have been reduced to ICC events for over a decade. The two nations last featured in a bilateral series in 2012-13, and after political tensions escalated, cricketing ties took a massive hit.

However, for years, the debate about resumption of bilateral series between India and Pakistan has been up in the media.

While some believe cricket shouldn’t suffer from soured relationships between two nations, a few consider the end of ties as a matter of national security.

Younis Khan's hot take on IND-PAK series

Amid this, former Pakistan batter Younis Khan shared his take on the debate and vouched for resumption of bilateral series between India and Pakistan.

In a conversation with local Pakistan media, Khan said the cricket boards and state governments of two nations should come together and resolve their issues as players want to play outside ICC events.

Younis Khan added that regular cricket between India and Pakistan will ease up the pressure and lower the unreal hype around the matchup. It will help players of both nations to focus solely on cricket and not be worried about the outside noise.

Khan also feels that IND-PAK series have historically produced stars and hence resumptions of sports ties is necessary for the sake of the game of cricket.

Notably, India and Pakistan are scheduled to clash on June 9 in Long Island, New York, in the 2024 T20 World Cup league stage game.
