Why Didn’t Deepak Chahar Play IND vs AUS 5th T20I? Here’s The Reason

One of India's T20I new-ball experts, Deepak Chahar, was not included in India's team for Sunday's (December 3) fifth and final T20I of the series against Australia at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was confirmed by Men in Blue stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav that he had returned home by plane because of a family emergency.

What sort of ‘family emergency’ was it, exactly? It has now been made public.

As per many reputed sources, Deepak’s father, Lokendra Singh Chahar, suffered a brain stroke lately and has been admitted to Mithraj Hospital in Aligarh. Hence, Chahar had to leave the squad to take care of his father, who attended a wedding function before suffering the stroke.

Meanwhile, Dainik Jagran revealed that Lokendra's condition has not improved much thus far and that his family is preparing to move him to Delhi or Agra.

In Chahar's absence, India brought back Arshdeep Singh in the mix. The left-arm quick performed admirably in the dead-rubber, in which the Men in Blue secured a hard-fought six-run victory to win the series with a 4-1 margin against a Matthew Wade-led side.
