The highly-anticipated and iconic clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will unfold for the 35th time on Saturday as Delhi Capitals (DC) will play its first home match of the ongoing IPL season and will host Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 20, 2024. 

Ahead of the IPL 2024, in a significant movement Delhi Capitals had appointed Rishabh Pant as the captain of the franchise as he has returned to the on-field action after facing a deadly car accident. 

SRH had trusted the services of Pat Cummins and appointed him as the skipper for the Orange Army. 

Both the teams have faced each other in 23 matches, SRH historically has the upper hand winning 12 matches and, on the other hand, DC have emerged victorious in 11 fixtures. 

 As the teams and fans all are geared up for this 35th match of the Indian Premier League. Let's take a look at the last time these teams faced each other in IPL 2023. 


When DC Faced SRH In IPL 2023 

The David Warner-led side Delhi Capitals hosted Aiden Markram-led SRH in a thrilling encounter in match No.40 of the IPL 2023 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Sunrisers Hyderabad won the close and thrilling encounter by a mere margin of 9 runs. 

Earlier in the match SRH captain Aiden Markram won the toss and decided to bat first. The Arun Jaitley Stadium is usually a low-scoring pitch, SRH opener Abhishek Sharma smashed 67 runs off 36 balls but was not supported by anyone from the other end, wickets kept on falling at regular intervals. 

SRH was not able to build a solid partnership Captain Aiden Markram was not able to score much Harry Brook was dismissed for a duck. 

In the end, Heinrich Klaasen provided a much-needed end and scored 53 runs off 27 balls. 

Delhi bowlers took wickets at regular intervals Ishant Sharma and spinner Axar Patel took one wicket each. Mitchell Marsh single-handedly destroyed the SRH batting as he scalped four crucial wickets. 

DC chase did not start well they lost the early wicket of captain David Warner at 0. Mitchell Marsh and Phil Salt made significant contributions and kept it going for DC. 

The DC's other batters were not able to score much and experienced bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar defended the last over and SRH won the match by 9 runs.
